Congratulations to our very own Justin Weldon, who earned 1st Place at the SBEF Annual Sporting Clay Tournament on February 2, representing Pine Shadows Elementary and finishing on top of more than 200 participants from across Spring Branch ISD schools at the Greater Houston Sports Club. The tournament supports the Spring Branch Education Foundation, which funds programs and opportunities benefiting SBISD students and teachers. Thank you to everyone who supported this great cause!

Felicitaciones a nuestro querido Justin Weldon, quien ganó el primer lugar en el Torneo Anual de Tiro al Platillo de la SBEF el 2 de febrero, representando a nuestra escuela Pine Shadows y superando a más de 200 participantes de las escuelas del SBISD en el Greater Houston Sports Club. El torneo apoya a la Fundación Educativa de Spring Branch, que financia programas que benefician a los estudiantes y maestros del SBISD. ¡Gracias a todos los que apoyaron esta noble causa!

The Extravaganza will feature instruction in 13 sports and/or activities to SBISD elementary students in first through fifth grade. Facilitators will include staff and athletes from SBISD Schools.

STEAM day is an opportunity for our students to learn about different careers focused around science, technology, engineer, art and mathematics through our community members and parents.

El Día STEAM es una oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes aprendan sobre diferentes carreras centradas en la ciencia, la tecnología, la ingeniería, el arte y las matemáticas, a través de la participación de miembros de la comunidad y de los padres de nuestras familias.

There are 3 current advocacy campaigns with the National PTA. If you would like to review and sign the petitions to send to your elected officials, visit here. 

The campaigns are advocating for:

• more federal education funding (~3% of the regular budget goes towards education)

• fully funding the federal government's portion per student of the IDEA Act for students with disabilities (currently 13% versus the pledge to fund 40%) 

• Protecting Sensitive Locations Act (limiting immigration enforcement to 1000 ft away from schools, bus stops, etc)

La PTA Nacional tiene tres campañas de abogacía. Si desea ver y considerar firmar las peticiones para enviarlas a sus representantes, visite este enlace.

Las campañas abogan por:

• más fondos federales para la educación (aproximadamente el 3% del presupuesto regular se destina a la educación)

• la financiación completa de la parte que le corresponde al gobierno federal por estudiante según la Ley “IDEA” para estudiantes con discapacidades (actualmente el 13% en comparación con el compromiso de financiar el 40%)

The filing period for candidates wanting to run for SBISD Board of Trustees Position 1 or Position 2 ends on Friday, February 13th. Learn more here. Election Day is May 2. Make sure your voter registration is up to date.

The Primary Elections to determine the candidates for the November election are on March 3. Early voting begins February 17-February 27. Due to recent redistricting, the US congressional districts in our area will change boundaries. In 2027, most PSE students will be in Congressional District 38, and some will be in Congressional District 29. See the new map here.

If you voted in the District 18 Special Election last month (now represented by Christian Menefee), your district will change for this primary, and after 2026, you will not be in District 18.

Note: You must select one party to vote for candidates in the primary, but this does not limit who you vote for in the November elections.

Las elecciones primarias para elegir a los candidatos de las elecciones de noviembre se llevarán a cabo el 3 de marzo. La votación anticipada será del 17 al 27 de febrero. Debido a la redistribución de distritos reciente, los distritos congresionales de EE.UU. en nuestra área cambiarán de límites.
