PSE turns 70 in 2025

 

Have you heard? Pine Shadows is celebrating its 70th birthday this year! Founded in 1955, Pine Shadows Elementary has been home to many a proud Explorer (and Pioneers before that!).

 

The PTA is proud to commemorate this milestone. (Fun fact - the PTA was also originally founded in 1955 and dues were fifty cents per person!) We will be recognizing our history throughout the year and invite you to join in on the fun.

The Pine Shadows Elementary school community is excited to celebrate our 70th Anniversary with a special program during our 3rd Annual Fall Festival!

 

Saturday, November 1, 2025
Fall Festival: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (on campus grounds)
Anniversary Program: 12:00 PM (PSE Media Center)

 

Anniversary Program Highlights

  • Welcome from Principal Dr. Aylin Martinez
  • Greetings and remarks from SBISD Superintendent, Dr. Jennifer Blaine, and former PSE principals
  • Dedication of the 2025 Time Capsule
  • Special performances by PSE students & Mr. Pablo Ocañas
  • PSE “Museum” of memorabilia, featuring photos, newsletters and past time capsules, presented by former PSE teachers

Before and after the program, guests are invited to enjoy our Fall Festival, featuring 1950s retro-inspired fun, games, raffle prizes, and food vendors as we honor the year Pine Shadows first opened its doors.  

 

This celebration is open to the public—we can’t wait to see you there!

Calling all Pine Shadows alumni and current/former staff (1955–2025)!

As we kick off our school’s 70th anniversary, we’d love to showcase YOUR memories throughout the years—on campus, in newsletters, and on our socials.

 

Please share any of the following:

  • Class photos

  • Stories, traditions, or milestone moments

  • Artifacts or memorabilia (yearbooks, programs, spirit shirts, pins, etc.)

  • Fun mascot history (remember the pioneer in the coonskin cap?)

  • If sending physical items, let us know and we’ll arrange safe handling and quick return.
